I've been sewing little items for the children's hospital since my carpal tunnel surgery. I love to buy books and make finger puppets for the kids to play with while either being read to or reading the book themselves. More to come next week.
My New Year Resolution if you want to call it that is to continue to bring smiles to the faces of the kids at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital here in Spokane. I wanted to share something that happened right before Christmas when I was delivering pillows and other items for the kids for Christmas. We were standing inside the PICU going through the bags when a nurse walked up and said that a little girl in a certain room needed one of them right now. I don't know the circumstances but I was so happy to know that we had something to help her through a difficult time.
If you have a children's hospital near you or if your hospital has a children's unit, please consider making something for the kids. Cute pillows are always the best because it gives them something to hold when they are scared or not feeling well. Call your hospital and see if there is a Child Life Specialist or a head nurse that you can speak to and tell them your idea. If you bring a smile to the face of one ill child, you will change your life.
